Hi all..
Im new to this (what it seems) great NFS server suite..
I have installed as bescribed on my 8gb usb stick... i copied the boot and sms directory to the stick and runned the "bootinst.bat" file under windows.
After some reboots i noticed that my settings didnt got saved .... and i started to look around this forum for some answers.
I saw the maker of SMS described somthing about the "save.dat" file and i donwloaded it and saved it to my SMS directory on my stick.
After that i edited the "sms.cfg" file who is pointed to from the "syslinux.cfg" file.
I added the line "changes=/sms/save.dat" as described ... in other threads i have read'd and it looks like this:
"APPEND vga=791 initrd=/boot/initrd.gz ramdisk_size=8888 root=/dev/ram0 rw changes=/sms/save.dat"
After i boot up SMS it says on the screen like this:
----------------------------------------------------------
"Setting up directory for changes"
"/mnt/sda1/sms/save.dat"
"Changes not used or not writeable, using memory only"
----------------------------------------------------------
It's seems to point for the save.dat file i have putted on my stick .. but it's seems it cant read it ...somehow?
Somone have any ideas? cose i realy want to be able to save my settings becuse i cant have my server on 24/7...

Try extracting save.dat (e.g. 128MB) again, you can also create a directory in sms like smschanges and point to that like
changes=/sms/smschanges/ it will work using posixovl, but using a .dat file is more stable.

Hi Geasimos..
Thx for ur fast answer..
I have used the 1gb savefile in my case but i can try with a smaller one also.
If it's not work i will try the directory thing, but as u say i guess the save.dat file is a better alternative..
Have i did it' right.. in the config file as well?... can accouly dont understand why he cant find the savefile.
He doesnt complain whan i save it to the stick or somthing like what ... only the thing he cant find it at the bootprocess...
All other in SMS seems to run as good as it should.. but this is only my most "annoyed" glitch at the moment.

EDIT: another thing i saw today is the fact it says "DIRECTORY" and not file.. as whan i maked the "smssave" directory under the sms directory on my stick the changes thing seems to work. :EDIT |
