Hi,

after SMS will be able to talk to me (http://sms.it-ccs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=559) I hope it can recognize me (and members of my family) to tell me what I really need to know.

By example telling me I received e-mails (and if it concern another member of my family he/she will know he/she got some e-mails). It can also tell me what another member of my family need to inform me when I come back home.

To be able to recognize me with my webcam it wiil need the program OpenCV :

I'll be way for a few weeks, so I'll get back to it then...

Maybe it will need extra dependencies though...

Hi,

that's possible it needs some dependencies but as we can see in the slacky.eu there is just the opencv...txz. We will see when you will see when you will come back.

Dear gerasimos_h,

as you know I though to try that the SMS can recognize me.
For this I presume it was just necessary to use OpenCV (I just got the O'Reilly OpenCV book and will check if it could be enough).

But after two days I just discovered there is a face recognition program (to authenticate) called PAM Face Authentication (http://www.pam-face-authentication.org/).

And here they talk about using an OpenCV version compiled with the OpenMP (Segfault with sudo etc is because of OpenCV compiled with OpenMP - look at the fixed issue http://code.google.com/p/pam-face-authentication/issues/detail?id=25) :

As you can see on the youtube video he makes a test (at 3:16 to 3:27). Then I presume that even if we do not use this program to authenticate as a login (name + password as they use it) it can be used to trigger it for other actions (like as I though to tell the recognized people if he/she got mails.
