I am going to download the 2.0.7 x86 iso but hesitated because I didn't understand the naming of the iso's. -Should I download
SMS.Native.CD-2.0.7-Extra.iso or SMS.Native.CD-2.0.7-Install.iso?.

When I installed 1.6.0 I used the SMS.Native.CD and cannot recall a Native.Extra choise? -After the install I separately downloaded the devel packages.

Isn't the Extra.iso an installation CD? What does it contain that separates it from the Install.iso?

What I should prefer is an installation.iso that doesn't necessarily contain the devel packages. But I want KDE and xorg support and most of the packages in the /extra directory (wireshark, ddclient, et c).
-I also would like to choose whether to install Lilo or not (mostly use grub2).

Sorry for this trivial Q but I looked arond your site before writing this, in the download directories, in your wiki and forum wihout finding a simple description of the difference between the Native.CD and the Native.Extra

Best regards
Lars

Hello,

Since whole packages didn't fit on one CD we split the distribution to 2 CDs...

SMS.Native.CD-Install is for installing SMS, it contains all the basic series plus the Xorg-kde addon, it even contains devel packages, all but 3 excluded, that exist in 2nd CD...

Extra ISO contains packages meant for, after installation...

From CHANGES_AND_HINTS
http://ftp.superbminiserver.org/SMS-Current/CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT
Code:
*** Devel Series split ***

Due to size increase devel series split to 2 CD, and to be more specific, packages
exist in SMS(64).Native.CD-Extra.iso are "llvm" "gcc-java" and "kernel-source"
So by selecting either of three packages during install, installer will prompt
you to insert the next CD to continue.

If the two CDs confuse you, just download the Current ISO that includes both, at

http://ftp.superbminiserver.org/

No, after your clearing things out I'm not confused any more Very Happy !

Thank you for your explanation!

Up to today I guess that Current iso packages work with 2.0.7, but for how long? Up to 2.0.8. or is it hard to say?

Well Current is the upcoming 2.0.8 actually, so no worries...

Our current glibc is held for long, for compatibility with older SMS versions, but even if we change glibc in 2.0.9 or later it's not a big deal, you will just have more packages to upgrade Wink

Did I note a sadistic undertone in your reply Wink ?
Perhaps you remember how many packages I've built for 1.6.0.

But again, Thank you! Now I know what iso's I should download for my legacy server Smile !
