If you are using a recent version of Firefox or Seamonkey to access the SMS Webmin page (if Webmin is set to use SSL), you will find you get this error:

Code:
Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to sms:10000. The key does not support the requested operation. (Error code: sec_error_invalid_key)

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

    Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem.

The problem is due to the fact that the default key generated is only 512 bytes, while the new version of the libraries used by mozilla browsers requires a minimum of 1024 bytes.

To fix the problem, open Webmin with a browser that doesn't prevent you logging in (or turn off SSL in the Webmi config), then go to Webmin > Webmin Configuration > SSL Encryption > Self-signed Certificate and generate a new key. The default is a 2048 byte key, which will allow you to use a mozilla browser, just with the normal "untrusted" warnings.

Chromium or Midori will both allow you to log into the page. Presumably, Chrome will also allow it.

Paul.

Thanks for the input...

You can also edit /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf to
ssl=0
and restart webmin with
/etc/webmin/restart
or for newer SMS
smsconfig webmin rs

That way you can access webmin without ssl and update the certificate...

Since the shellshock bug though, I would recommend having webmin disabled all the time and enabled it only if you need to change something, as webmin versions prior to 1.710 was the backdoor on old SMS versions with unpatched bash...
