I followed your postings on this topic in the forum but when I select /dev/sdb1 then "'/" I get error msg.
I download initrd.img but when I try to copy to usb stick it says read only file system.
A little guidance on how to get around this?
thanks |

It seems you were reading some outdated post/topic...
All info is at
http://sms.it-ccs.com/isos/SMS-Current/README_USB.TXT
When setup ask you to choose source, choose
"Install from a USB Installer"
Been a while since I install from USB, I hope it ain't broken...
Also you need a fat32 formated USB stick for installer to work...

Was disk formated with FAT32?
Installer search for a fat32 partition with slackware(64) folder...
I'll make a test myself to see if it's broken...

I just did a test install (installing packages as I write) from USB, and I can confirm it's working...
Did you follow procedure in
http://sms.it-ccs.com/isos/SMS-Current/README_USB.TXT ?
Code: | Required folders needed for the installer to work are
+ isolinux
+ kernels
+ slackware(64)
+ syslinux
and of course usbboot.bat or usbboot.sh.
Selecting source media
------------------------
During installation when you prompt to select source media choose
"Install from a USB installer" and continue with the installation as usual.
Installer will search all FAT32 partitions for slackware or slackware64
depending on your architecture |
