|
|
I've tried burning both SMS Native and SMS64 Native to CD, with different software, with no results. I even tried the disks on a different computer to no avail.
I don't believe that the disks are bad, since I've been using the same stack for audio disks. |

Have you try to burn them in slower writing speed?
Do you get any error while booting or doesn't boot at all?

I had tried the latest disk at x1.
I don't get any errors on boot. I select to boot from the DVD drive, the disk spins up, the cursor blinks twice, then I boot into my usual drive. |

I just did a burn at x16 and had no problems booting it.
If you have Virtualbox or Vmware try to boot your disc in a virtual machine to test that is working at least there...
What software you are using and what method for writing the disc?
DAO (disk-at-once) or SAO (session-at-once) are the preferable methods.
Can you verify disc? As far as I know Nero has verification and CopyToDVD has Inspector.
Inspector is also a free app you can download and verify disc readability.

I tried both ImgBurn and Windows Disc Image Burner. I had each program verify with no errors.
I just checked the MD5 and everything was alright. I'm installing VirtualBox and I'll let you know what happens.
Would it matter that I had been trying SMS64 native extra rather than without the extras? |

OK! no need to install virtualbox.
SMS64.Native.CD-Extra.iso is not bootable, and it's like Install disc #2.
You need to burn SMS64.Native.CD-Install.iso and boot.

Ah, got it.
Well, now I have a few different versions to play with!
Thank you for your time!
I can't wait to explore this distro. I saw SMS covered in an article of Linux & Open Source vol.3 |

Thanks for the info, if you have a link or a scan of SMS article to share, that would be great.
