Hello my name is Darin. I make the SuperGamer live series. Another release will be done as soon as backports gets some things fixed. Enough with who I am, I have an idea. Why don't you run live all the time. Here is what I am meaning. My system setup is several harddrives but my main is 500GB with a 14GB partition holding my Live version (like a USB install using fat) and the rest is ext 2. I run live all the time and have been doing it for more than 3 years without any issues. I did upgrade my ram a few months ago from 4GB to 12GB. You can run a system setup like what I do for a server that is blazingly fast without high end hardware. My 14GB partition acts like SSD drive and it is faster than a normal install comparing the same system to system. I also have a few scripts that check and allow an updated package to be installed during bootup. I have some more stuff but can't divulge everything but I will tell you speed wise ram even ECC ram is faster than any harddrive and pointing log files to an external partition keeps ram in check. I can also attest that I have not had any issues with leaving my setup on for several days. |
