I want to remove hylax from my server. Do I just remove the directory or is there a more graceful way of doing it?

just do
removepkg /var/log/packages/hylafax*
and
sed -e 's/d1:12345:respawn:/#d1:12345:respawn:/g' -i /etc/inittab
