Hi,
Can you give me a step-by-step tutorial on how to install mediatomb on an sms server as I am a noob at this Linux stuff?

Thanks in advance.

You need to install SMS first and you will need SMS.Native.CD-1.6.6-Extra.iso from downloads.
Mount SMS.Native.CD-1.6.6-Extra or copy files to a directory, and install packages...

Code:
mount /dev/sr0  /mnt/cdrom
installpkg  /mnt/cdrom/extra/DLNA/common/*.txz
installpkg  /mnt/cdrom/extra/DLNA/mediatomb/*.txz

Edit /etc/rc,d/rc,mediatomb.conf with you port number e.g.
MEDIATOMB_PORT="55600"

To start mediatomb run
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.mediatomb start

And navigate to your web browser at
http://yourserver:55600

You can also boot from the SMS.LiveCD and do the above procedure to test it.

Hi,
I have installed mediatomb as you said and changed the port number. When I try and start the server with
Code:
/etc/rc.d/rc.mediatomb start
I get the error (or what I think is an error): "Starting mediatomb ... /usr/bin/mediatomb: error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.18: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory done!" How should I fix this?

It may help to know that I am using sms 64bit v1.6.5. Does this mean I need to upgrade? If so how shall I upgrade?

Which version of mediatomb have you installed?
I assume you had SMS-1.6.6 that's why I specify SMS.Native.CD-1.6.6-Extra.iso
You need SMS64.Native.CD-1.6.5-Extra.iso and use
Code:
upgradepkg /mnt/cdrom/extra/DLNA/mediatomb/*.txz

If you want to upgrade you can, no need though, the error is from mysql upgrade, SMS-1.6.5 use mysql-5.1.x and in SMS-1.6.6 we move to mysl-5.5.x.

Upgrading SMS instructions and a video tutorial are available at SMS Wiki
