echo hello > /dev/usb/lp0
does get reponse from printer.

I got right PPD file that worked before.

I don't know how I got this printer worked before with cups
maybe it was different distribution or older slackware...

I tried adding the usb printer by lpadmin
but no success.

at cups, adding new printer greys out local printer. back then I could add a local printer by simply log into the web interface.

Is there any way I can add a usb local printer to cups?

I need experts' advices.

Update!!!

I noticed slackware 13.37 uses cups 1.4.6 and log into browser and able to add usb local printer

Simply replacing 1.5.0 with 1.4.6 cups package solved the problem

It seems there is a conflict with libusb, now it's OK.
You can upgrade to 1.5.0 if you like or upgrade to 1.4.8 from SMS-1.6.2
available at extra/packages.

To upgrade to 1.5.0 download package manually or use slapt-get.

SMS-Current tree is here

Thank you for the bug report.
