What do you mean by sources?

More Packages? or to make packages of your own?

Please be more specific...

I just want to make sure that all dependencies are met. I will be installing several apps that require development libs. So, really dont know how to proceed or if files already exist.

thanks for the reply - have a great weekend! |

Slackware doesn't have dependencies check, you can install swaret that has dependencies check.

Development libs required if you want to build something from sources usually.

That is Slackware/d/ directory from slackware tree in Slackware Installation DVD.

SMS has gettext-tools, pkg-config, perl and python from development directory.

You can check the requirements of any packages before you install it... Packages info can be found in pkgtool, and in /var/log/packages..

For installing packages you can use upgradepkg --install-new it will upgrade any existing package (if it's the same it will skip it) and install new.

I hope I was helpful.

If you find trouble let me know.
