I can't get this to install for the life of me. I started out on a bare metal install. Ended up getting a "RAMDISK: couldn't find valid ramdisk image starting at 0." error message.
I then tried installing in a VirtualBox VM, and that doesn't even setup the master boot record on the HDD.
I'm trying with the LiveCD 1.5.6 using sms-text-installer.
Are there log files somewhere for the installer that I can see so I can figure out what's going wrong? |

I also tried a manual install here: http://sms.it-ccs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=350
When I got to the step where I'm to chroot to the /mnt/sdaX mount, the chroot doesn't work, presenting the error message: failed to run command `/bin/bash': No such file or directory. |

Hi maxim9
You probably don't want to hear this but I think you have either a bad download or bad cd burned.
I've downloaded SMS many times and it always installs. So, I would try burning the cd again and at slow rate. If that doesn't work, maybe download it again.
I know you probably wanted a better answer but I think it has to be one of those two things.
good luck |

Try installing from SMS.Native.CD-1.5.6-Install.iso, it's the proper way to install.
What filesystem you use and how many partitions do you have on your disk?

I tried a Native install and the result was the same. The RAMDISK error was presented.
I tried with ext3, and ext4, there are to partitions, the first is the root filesystem, and the second is swap. |

Native.CD by default has no ramdisk image (initrd.gz) and if you are installing
in Vbox you don't need one.
Did you choose auto installation of lilo or the traditional slackware lilo installer?
Have you look at installations tutorials? Have you done those steps?
