Hi, I've been running SMS for around two months now, installing 1.5.3 three times and 1.5.5 two times. Installing have worked fine everytime, until today when I was going to configure the network with the tool that starts after the installation.
My box keep spamming out "bash: can't open 'sbin/netconfig'"

Help would be appreciated.

Probably something went wrong during install and skip packages, including network-scripts which have netconfig and netconfig-lcd.
verify that you installation is good, and if it is, once you boot and login to sms run netconfig-lcd.

I've figured out what the problem is now by reinstalling it several times. It is my partitioning that messes with it. When I'm only using one partition for everything it works fine, but when I use different partitions it won't start the network configuration.
My partitions are:
/boot
swap
/
/tmp
/var
/var/log
/usr
/home

It's because you have duplicated mounts
/var
/var/log
If you remove /var/log you will be OK!, beside that, it's wrong.

Now I have other problems instead, when I press that I want to configure the network it sends me away to the next screen without asking for any information, and when I chooses to set a root password it gives me a "Press enter to continue" message, and then sends me back to the set root password-screen.
Ignoring this, thinking I were going to fix it when the system was started instead, LILO ain't booting me into SMS.
My guess is that this also has something to do with my partitioning since that's the only thing that's different from my other installations. However I don't know what it should be.
/boot is first on the drive so that isn't the problem.

All configurations runs from /var/log/setup and having duplicate mount points of /var cause this.
I would recommend a fresh install with one /var if you don't have data in jeopardy.

Yeah, that's what I did, I think. I ran the Native CD again, and deleted the partition with /var/log and then wrote to disk. I am just laborating with an older machine, so dataloss ain't a trouble, so during setup I formatted all the partitions again.
It now looks like this:
/boot
swap
/
/tmp
/var
/usr
/home

Do you still have problems with the above setup?

Yeah, the boot problem and root-password problem was with that setup. I will re-do it today and doublecheck so I didn't change something by mistake. I'll post back with the results.

This is the problem I get when I leave the /var/log out and keep the rest of the partitions. Just did it again and got the exact same problem.

I've been testing a lot of setups this evening, and the problem was just a simple one, I had too little space on the / partition.
I guess the partition guides that I've read is a little too outdated.

Do you have any guidelines to go after when partitioning?

A full installation of SMS takes about 2.6GB in which ~85% is directory /usr
By specifying the root dir (/) you mean all the dirs except the ones that will create a mount point, in our case

/boot
/tmp
/var
/usr
/home

So /usr is the most important, also /home if you are going to add users because their data will be stored in /home.
Having a mount point for /tmp is a little paranoid, but if you do, you need a lot of space in tmp.
Generally speaking, if an OS consumes e.g. 3GB of space, you must have at list twice the space.
In your partition scheme above you need a lot of space e.g.

/boot 100MB
/tmp 8GB
/var 8GB
/usr 8GB
/home 8GB
/ 8GB
swap twice your ram

If you don't have the space it's proper to make

/boot 100MB
/ 8GB
swap 1GB

I hope I was helpful enough.
