I ever use a previous version of sms but the new version even better. The problem now is that, before the latest release of sms, I'm using ubuntu server 10.10 and I have a lot of data inside my 333GB server hardisk. Is there anyway I can convert ubuntu server 10.10 to SMS. without hassle. I'm using webmin 1.530. regards

It depends on the services you are using, if your 333GB are data shared through samba, afp, ftp the you can easily migrate, as easy as installing SMS and move your data on it.

Assuming that your data disks are independents and your disk scheme is similar to
1 HDD for system (Ubuntu)
2 HDD ext4 for data
1 HDD ntfs for data
you need to repartition your system disk to either dual boot or delete ubuntu and install SMS.

I need more info on that to guide you safely, for instance if you have users permissions over shared data then, you need to create the same users on SMS for shares to work.

What's the partition scheme of sda1?
Since you shared a folder on sda1 you must be extra careful.
If you have an old disk you can plug it and install SMS there, so it will be independent and do your testings safely.
Boot from SMS.Native.CD-1.5.4-Install.iso and see if you can see the LVM partitions on sda1, another way is to move your shared data from sda1 and reformat disk.

Once this step is done you need to configure your system.

2. Yes quite easily just mount it with ntfs-3g.
3. I use ext2 for /boot and ext4, ext3 or jfs for root (/).
You can use
100MB /boot ext2
1GB swap
15GB / ext4
~60GB /DATA ext4
so you don't have to repartition every time you want to change OS.
4. Webmin 1.530 is already installed and enabled at port 10000 by default.

You can boot from SMS64.Live.CD-1.5.4.iso and edit /etc/samba/smb.conf or through webmin/samba your shares accordingly to your mount points and take a glimpse.
Of course it will be much faster after installation.

I just did a quick install of SMS64.Native.CD-1.5.4-Install.iso and installed alright.
You might wanna try burning it again in slower speed, if you use CD-RW try a CD-R disc or try a different installation method if your CDR Drive it's old.

Also you can use SMS 32bit since your RAM is 512MB there is no need to install a 64bit OS, and might be better for you.

Another thing I notice is that SMS64.Native.CD-1.5.4-Install.iso has kernels 2.6.33.5, something went wrong on making the isos, I'll re upload it today, although this is not the issue in your situation, you should have a system running with a 2.6.33.5 kernel.
