The install could not have been any easier. Just went smoothly!
A couple of suggestions:
1. Memory was initially configured at 1MB. So, I could not use guest-additions. Simple remedy was to go to settings and configure display and system settings for more memory. After that, no problems. I would suggest setting up virtual appliance with more memory, some people might not know how to fix.
2. xorgsetup took a long time to configure x. No problems other than slow.
3. Desktop icons would not initially launch due to sms being the host name in url. I had not changed the host name, so was surprised that it did not work. I switched name to 'localhost' and all worked.
All in all, a very nice job.
thanks for the effort |

I have set a memory to 512MB, have you import the SMS-1.5.0.ovf xml file?
When you import the SMS-1.5.0.ovf it should print a list of settings.
from SMS-1.5.0.ovf
Code: | <Item>
<rasd:Caption>512 MB of memory</rasd:Caption>
<rasd:Description>Memory Size</rasd:Description>
<rasd:InstanceId>2</rasd:InstanceId>
<rasd:ResourceType>4</rasd:ResourceType>
<rasd:AllocationUnits>MegaBytes</rasd:AllocationUnits>
<rasd:VirtualQuantity>512</rasd:VirtualQuantity>
</Item> |
The default X was set to 1024x768 but X is slow on virtualbox although vboxvideo module is loaded. I haven't try 3D acceleration.
Some apps require localhost and not bind to hostname, but that's a minor fix.
I'm glad you like it.

Yes, I imported SMS-1.5.0.ovf xml file.
I have been using and so far everything is working and going well. I cloned our community forum to virtual appliance and have been testing and trying things that I would not do on a regular box.
thanks for this. |
