Ofcourse everything works if I don't change anything. However, if I name the host server1.cliqn.com and type 'mysqladmin -h server1.cliqn.com -u root password' that command fails.
I get an error message 'Host sever1.cliqn.com is not allowed to connect to this MYSQL server'.
What dumb thing am I doing? Do I need to do some grant command?
This also reminds me to ask about how to change host name of other servers to match 'server1'. Just trying to learn how to customize to fit schools network.
thanks |

I forgot one other issue: In web menu, click on MYSQL server and under Global Options select MYSQL - I get this error message 'can't find my.cnf on system'.
How do I fix this?
thanks |

Most servers listen to hostname, so if you edit hostname and hosts in /etc/ I believe you are covered... Try to change those files first and run mysql command after that...
You will find in /etc/ those files:
my-huge.cnf
my-large.cnf
my-medium.cnf
my-small.cnf
choose what is most appropriate for your system (depends on RAM) and copy it to my.cnf.
I didn't set a default, I'll will though, skipped my attention.
Thanks for that

thanks. Let me make sure I understand. In my /etc directory I have no my.cnf but I do have those other files.
So, I would pick one and copy to my.cnf, thereby creating that file?

Yes...
Simple as 'cp my-large.cnf my.cnf' _________________ Superb! Mini Server Project Manager
