i've been switching between utorrent/winxp and sms ... because 1 thing i noticed is that my sms server, even thought its on the router's dmz, always seem to find less peers/seeds for the same torrent compared to my utorrent/winxp setup (which is NOT on the dmz, merely has ports forwarded). i've done several tests with both pc downloading the same torrent and it always seems to be the case: utorrent always seems to find more peers/seeds and finds them quicker ...
has anybody else noticed this? |

I my self use private trackers, so I didn't notice any difference between torrent clients.
Maybe it's the DHT that makes the difference in you situation.
Are the download speeds difference?
Connecting to more peers or making more connections doesn't always increase the speed.

Yes, I can confirm both of you... it is mainly the DHT which is useful (mainly in the case you don't use private trackers).
Anyway, less clients doesn't necessarily mean less speed.
Having it may be a good thing only in case of broken tracker or very rare torrent.
Bye,
