Hi,

As you know I am not an administrator but am trying to learn by using SMS. I had everything working for two days without any errors except the hylafax getty error messages.

Yesterday I logged in and found that I could not login to email or my wife could not log in. I sent an email from yahoo.com and the reply was could not delivered because smtp connection could not be established.

I have looked at all the logs in /var/log and could not find any hints to what is going on.

Any ideas?

I just checked and I can send mail internally from one user to another but external mail is not coming in.

I've looked at my firewall (not sms) but do not see anything wrong with it.

I need more info to check it.
the domain
mail delivery error report from yahoo.
/var/log/maillog during the reject.
Try telnet your domain on port 25. and do
ehlo domain

the only error messages I am getting are in 'syslog'

this can not be good. Not sure how to trouble shoot that.

doing a
'dig cliqn.com mx'
shows that you don't have a valid MX record.
Create one.

Did you change something in BIND lately?

I just tried doing a nslookup and dig and it says server could not be reached.

But named is running. So, I don't get it. I have an MX record. not sure what is happening.

Did you installed a hosting app like virtualmin or something?
Have you try restarting bind?

Something is wrong in bind configuration, and since it was working, something must have changed in configuration.
I see an entry of hostmaster.cliqn.com, try to remove it.
