Hi

I thought SMS had kernels compiled with aufs squasfs? When I run ./build I get an error and says modules are not there.

Should I use Tomas's kernel?

thanks - 1.4.2 seems to be running really well. Although on my notebook I still have'nt been able to make sound work Sad . But I will.

squasfs and aufs patches applied to SMS.LiveCD kernel only (2.6.27.7-lcd).
You need to install kernel-livecd-2.6.27.7_lcd package type 'lilo' and reboot.
After that you can remaster SMS.

wow! My first SMS remaster that works! I feel so empowered Laughing

The remaster created a livecd and everything I tried appears to work. So cool!

One little glitch. When I tried to install the cd to harddrive with the command 'setup' it said 'setup' not found.

Did I leave out a step? A little guidance from the master would be appreciated.

thanks

If you make a livecd then you should use 'sms-text-installer' command, 'setup' it's on native installer.
SMS.Live.CD and SMS.Native.CD contains the same data but there are two entirely different things.
If you like to remaster the native version it's a little more complex.

thanks for the reply.

I only use the native cd. You say its complex. Could you list steps that I need to do for the native cd? It would be appreciated.

thanks

For remastering native version you need either to alter each package that affect your changes separately or by creating a package with all your changes and install it at the end of installation.

When adding a new package that doesn't exist in directory e.g. slackware/ap, you should edit tagfile, maketag and maketag.ez in the same dir, so the installer see it.

What type of changes you want to make, to be more specific?

I've added alot of applications and desktop customizations for running on my laptop. So, it would be nice to remaster my laptop version for easy install on other computers.

thanks

Well you need to do some job with your packages.
The easiest thing you should do, for not wasting hours or maybe days, make a directory e.g. /tmp/packages and install all your new packages with
'installpkg -root /tmp/packages yourpackages.tgz'
move your files and confs, keeping directory structure.
When you are done with that cd into /tmp/packages and do
'makepkg -l y -c n z_changes-1.0-noarch-1.tgz'
Move your package to slackware/x/ edit tagfile and maketag and add z_changes package.

99% it will work, and the most important is that it will cost you 10 minutes max.
