I would like to tap into your expertise .. Just for my personal knowledge enrichment, what is the flow of configuration for apps?
Example: Do you configure DNS first, or LDAP, or Postfix...so on.
Would like to hear your suggestions.
thanks |

Well it depends what you want to configure.
You will need to have a valid DNS record for everything to work, although it's not always up to you to configure, but it's up to your ISP.
If you want to configure a mailserver you will have to start from a basic MTA,IMAP configuration, that just works, and then enhance it. LDAP it's not a must to configure, it depends from the way you want to authenticate your users, and the database you want to choose.
Of course all of those requires to create RSA keys and certificates first.
Usually i'm living mailserver configuration to last and I start from bind, users, samba(or nfs or afp or all of them),http, print, mail.
