My last post about naming violition, I just figured it out. I am so stoked! I was able to import egoupware.ldif successfully.
Now just the flushing of db. |

Just open phpldapadmin login and mark the [dc=cliqn,dc=com] and choose delete this entry...
You can alternative delete all the .db and .bdb file in
/var/lib/openldap-data
After deleting the database you can import you egroupware.ldif, but you said you had already imported, Didn't you imported earlier when you got those error messages...?
Now I'm confused...

Your confused. I'm confused!
I had not deleted db but imported 'egroupware.ldif'. and things were working, but I found a problem with egroupware and made a change. Not sure what I did but really messed things up. Now I am having nothing but problems.
I am going to re-install everything. Should be back to stable point within about 45 minutes.
So here are the steps I will be taking:
1. use sed script to change file
2. delete db and import egroupware.ldif
3. delete egroupware and install 1.4.04
4. config egroupware
5. dance happily around room
hope you are up in about an hour |

well, I've deleted db and imported 'egroupware.ldif'. Installed egroupware and here is what I get:
Error: Can't bind to LDAP server: cn=manager,dc=cliqn,dc=com! common::ldapConnect / accounts_backend::accounts_backend / accounts::accounts / CreateObject(phpgwapi.accounts) / setup::setup_account_object / setup::accounts_exist
Error: Error connecting to LDAP server cliqn!
Also, here is results of the following commands:
root@cliqn:~# testsaslauthd -u root -p toor
0: NO "authentication failed"
root@cliqn:~# ps aux | grep sladpd
root 8611 0.0 0.0 2000 652 pts/1 S+ 07:14 0:00 grep sladpd
Any thoughts? |

That's correct, root account it's not in LDAP, you admin account of egroupware is.
Quote: | root@cliqn:~# ps aux | grep sladpd
root 8611 0.0 0.0 2000 652 pts/1 S+ 07:14 0:00 grep sladpd |
The correct process is 'slapd' try
ps aux | grep slapd
as for egroupware error at the end says setup::accounts_exist .?

root@cliqn:~# ps aux | grep slapd
root 3289 0.0 0.1 433416 3656 ? Ssl May02 0:00 /usr/libexec/slapd
root 28551 0.0 0.0 2008 660 pts/1 S+ 08:58 0:00 grep slapd
sorry about typo.
I saw that at the end as well, but don't understand it as I deleted ldap db and mysql and egroupware. Then I re-installed, so that does not make sense to me. |

Just thought I would share this with you. I installed sms on another box and made NO changes to it. Then I went to egroupware/setup and logged in to config. The third step down is create an admin account. I did that and tried to save and here is what I got:
ldap_add(,uid=baboo,ou=accounts,o=egroupware,dc=sms,dc=org,Array ( [objectclass] => Array ( [0] => top [1] => person [2] => organizationalperson [3] => inetorgperson [4] => posixaccount [5] => shadowaccount ) [uidnumber] => 1006 [uid] => baboo [gidnumber] => 1003 [sn] => [cn] => [userpassword] => {SSHA}gkyNDeCGtCGD890l01EhyLozkk5WbmNtYXFHYQ== [homedirectory] => /dev/null ) ) Invalid syntax
Do you think there is a problem with your setup? Or is there a problem with egroupware? |

I think there is some cached problem with ldap. On the SMS server that has not been modified, I rebooted it. Then I went into egroupware config. I setup an admin account. This time it accepted and no errors.
Then I logged into egroupware and clicked on mail. I got can not connect to imap server. I checked to make sure dovecot was running and it was.
Now with no changes made to SMS, except adding an admin account, it should have connected to imap server.
BTW, this is native cd install. |

That must be an tls/ssl issue, either disable tls, or enable smtps in /etc/postfix/master.cf
