I am trying to install citadel and its aborting the install. Here is the message output:
root@nemo:~# tail /tmp/citadel-install-log.txt
auth.c:90: error: 'pam_handle_t' undeclared (first use in this function )
auth.c:90: error: 'ph' undeclared (first use in this function)
auth.c:116: warning: implicit declaration of function 'pam_start'
auth.c:116: error: 'PAM_SUCCESS' undeclared (first use in this function )
auth.c:119: warning: implicit declaration of function 'pam_authenticate '
auth.c:120: warning: implicit declaration of function 'pam_acct_mgmt'
auth.c:123: warning: implicit declaration of function 'pam_end'
auth.c:88: warning: unused variable 'pc'
gmake: *** [auth.o] Error 1
Operating system: Linux 2.6.24.4-lcd( 2.6.24.4-lcd i686)
It looks as if some config sms has for security, might be in conflict with citadel.
any thoughts? |

You might need pam-devel package. Download from here the rpm package
and do
rpm2tgz pam-devel-0.99.10.0-4.fc9.i386.rpm
installpkg pam-devel-0.99.10.0-4.fc9.i386.tgz
I had no error during compile though.

okay, citadel installed. I selected on install to use host auth. However, when I try to login it says root's password is wrong.
Now, I've installed citadel on rh, debian, knoppix, sid, pclinuxos, and sles. Never had this problem.
I'm thinking I have done something to my sms install. I installed livecd and then got develpackages from link you provided in previous post.
Is that wrong? Am I using the right sources?
Don't you just love pretender admin types? |

Regarding LiveCD installation, I don't think it's a problem, you shouldn't have any problems that way.
As for citadel I don't know what is and what does it do
have you try /usr/local/citadel/setup ?

I think the problem is citadel uses host auth, but its expecting the host auth to validate against ldap. So, I need to setup ldap with a user to test my theory.
thanks |

I just run
Code: | root@sms:/usr/local/citadel# ./chkpw
** host auth mode test utility **
Starting chkpwd daemon for host authentication mode
Username: root
uid: 0
Password: toor
pass |
I don't know if that help you

thanks - I had already tried that. It appears to me that I need to setup ldap for the host auth to work. |
