Hello all,
I just booted my pc with the sms live cd and everything went fine... I checked a few things and tried a few programs and then I decided to install it as a server.
But now...
1) Live version (with no KDE or Xorg):
I didn't save anything and the boot was clean and smooth (from CD). Now, when restarting from the beginning, it stops at LibClamaAV or at Squirrelmail boot loading. HDD is clean and unpartitioned (I planned to use the partitioning tool during installation).
2) Native version:
It stops immediately at the boot prompt (checkig boot CD... and a flash restart). Nothing written on the screen (well, maybe nothing I can read in such a short time).
The PC is an Acer Aspire 1300 with 256MB of RAM and I tried it with both hdd connected/disconnected. It goes fine with other Linux distros and/or Operating Systems.
MD5 Check on downloaded files is ok.
Did my Live CD get ruined in one run?
Do I have BIOS problems?
I really would like to try out this distibution... from what I saw in the first run of the live... it rocks! My compliments to the publisher.
Thank you for your help,
Max |

Hi
Try booting with 'acpi=off' in livecd, also create a linux partition and a swap partition, 256MB RAM it's quite slow booting with livecd, so if you have a swap partition it will use it.
If SMS.Native.CD won't boot might be a bios issue, or a bad media, try writing the install iso to a lower speed.

Thank you for the suggestion... it worked!
May be a good add-on to be putted on the wiki page (close to the part where you mention the possible ClamAV boot up problem).
Many people could solve their problem with RAM availability and be able to use this wonderful distro.
Now trying to manage with the Native on a different partition. Will let you know if I am successfull.
Thanks again for your help.
Bye,
Max |
