Use 'adduser' to add your user, to create a shell for him, if you already done that type 'xwmconfig' and choose kde desktop.
logout root and login with your user and type 'startx' or 'startkde'

Done, but now im here i have another newbie question. When start x with root my kde desktop is full of premade things, like the shortcuts to webmin, CUPS, TorrentFlux and all the shortcuts to the directories that are very important in the server like Samba and ftp directories.
My question is, if i dont log in X with root, i dont get anything of this stuff on my desktop, so shouldn't i have to work with a non root account?
Sorry but explain me this or suggest me some reading.
Cheers! |

It depends what you want to do with SMS.
If you use it as server there is no reason to create a user as you only need to configure your server.
If you want to explore things, do some testings and use it as browsing machine, getting your mails e.t.c. then you need to work as a user.
Settings and shortcuts for root are in /root/Desktop and /root/.kde
for your user are in /home/youruser/Desktop and /home/youruser/.kde
Every users has it's setiings and home directory.

Ok, so i wanted as a server, should i work and leave the root account logged even when not on the computer? Isn't that dangerous? |

You don't need to be logged on. Servers (windows, unix) doesn't require root or any another user to be logged in for services (fileserver, mailserver e.t.c) to run.
For security reasons you need to change password for root and administrator user and add password to mysql if you use it.
