I have been trying to get lvm to work on native 1.3.7. but no luck. Here are the steps I use:

1. create partitions:
/boot
swap
Linux
2. I then create ext3 on /boot and /dev/hda3 (Linux)
3. Reboot
4. cfdisk and change hda3 to LVM.
5. pvcreate /dev/hda3
6. vgcreate vol /dev/hda3
7. lvcreate -L 12G -nroot vol
8. I then create lv's for /usr, /home, /var, /tmp
9. type setup and set swap
10. Setup then asks for me to format partitions and mount points.
11. Then the install procedes as usual.
12. After install I reboot but no lilo config.

where am I going wrong?

thanks

Does it write lilo configuration at all in setup?
When you finished installation don't reboot, type 'liloconfig'.

There is also that link that it's quite useful, it's for slackware 12.1 installer thought.

It does not write lilo config. However, the link you provided explains why not.

Unfortunately, I still cannot make it work following steps in link. Bummer! I have lvm running on another distro so it stumps me why .I cannot make it work.

Anyway, rolled it back to partitions only.

thanks for the help
