I tried FreeNAS and Ubuntu Server but I got to many problems. I just know trying to learn the UNIX commandline will take too much time for me and will interfere with my education.

I tried Superb Mini Server Live and it worked out of the box. I like the fact that SMS runs from a fat filesystem; it's easy to plug my usb flash drive with SMS into a windows machine and edit the files on the pen drive.
