I am installing an app that needs me to apply owner of /var/www/htdocs to apps folder for writing purposes.
In Debian this would be www-data. Is slackware apache? Not sure but your answer would be helpful.

You are right is under user apache...
Actually /var/www/htdocs/ is under root.root the folder of your app inside the htdocs folder should be under apache.
