If you have Apple Macintosh computer running 10.5 and above, you can use SMS as a Time Machine backup volume.
In Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Apple added support for Time Machine backups over AFP.
What you need to do!
First create a directory with read write permission for guest volume setup e.g,

Code:

mkdir /var/afp/TimeMachine

chmod -R 777 /var/afp/TimeMachine

or if you want a user setup, chow -R directory with your user to correct permissions.
Edit /etc/netatalk/AppleVolumes.default and add share with options:tm

Code:

/var/afp/TimeMachine "TimeMachine Backup"  cnidscheme:cdb options:usedots,upriv,tm

If you have a user volume setup just add at the end allow:youruser

Code:

/var/afp/TimeMachine "TimeMachine Backup"  cnidscheme:cdb options:usedots,upriv,tm allow:youruser

Add other shares for other Macs, if you don't want a time machine backup skip the "tm" option.
Start the service with
/etc/rc.d/rc.atalk start

Mount the share in your Mac
Open Time Machine and choose the appropriate share.
That's it.
