Hello,

I'm fairly new with Linux and I was really glad I found this distro as it has everything I was looking for. I just have a couple of configuration problems that I hope you can help me with.

Upon fresh installation, LDAP doesn't have a base entry so what I did was to import the sms.ldif file. Also DB_CONFIG was not found in /var/lib/open-data so I copied the DB_CONFIG.example and renamed to DB_CONFIG in there.

I then installed egroupware using installpkg:

I setup egroupware and logged in but when I clicked FelamiMail it gave an error: The connection to the imap server failed!!! No,Authentication Failed. I'm guessing it's an LDAP or postfix issuecause I tried logging into squirrelmail and it didn't accept the user i created for egroupware. I was under the impression that accounts created within egroupware should also be authenticated in postfix-- meaning email accounts are also created for squirrelmail and can be accessed through felamimail since I was using LDAP or was I mistaken? I also would like to know if those dovecot errors in the egroupware installation are connected to my problem.

Hi,
rename ssl_disable=no to ssl=yes in /etc/dovecot.conf, and start dovecot with
'/etc/rc.d/rc.dovecot start'
I'll update the egroupware package as well.

Hello,

Thanks for the quick response. I edited dovecot.conf from egroupware package like you suggested and it got through without errors. I was also able to configure egroupware + ldap + email accounts to synchronize meaning email accounts are created through egroupware user registration.

Now when I go to squirrelmail I can access my email with no problem. However, inside egroupware (felamimail), it still says :

The connection to the IMAP Server failed!!

NO, [AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Authentication failed.

What am I missing? I tailed dovecot-info.log and here is the log when accessing squirrelmail and felamimail:

Also in felamimail, there's always an alert box popping up saying "No XML Response Was Returned By Function doXMLHTTP."

Hoping you could help me with this. I just want the users to access the mail through egroupware. Thanks a lot

Alright! I've gotten past the IMAP setting and got it to sync with felamimail. The configuration in egroupware setup that was causing the error was the mail login type. I was using "virtual mail manager" where "standard" should have been used. With "virtual mail manager", it was adding the domain name after the userid and since i was using the email address as the userid, it searches LDAP for user@domain@domain and so it fails.

But now I hit a wall again, I noticed that I can't compose messages and read the inbox. Whenever I save to drafts it says: Error: Could not save Message as Draft. Also the account created in LDAP always has a home directory of /dev/null though I tried changing it into /var/vmail/user but still I can't see any messages. I indicated at the setup that the directory is /var/vmail and I checked /var/vmail, the user folder was created, still the same. Also, the pop-up alert is still there: No XML Response Was Returned By Function doXMLHTTP.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

First of all let me say thank you for this distro SMS is the best. After fiddling for sometime I can now email other users. My only qualm now is the alert popup: No XML Response Was Returned By Function doXMLHTTP. Yeah it pops up everytime i go to felamimail. "No XML Response Was Returned By Function doXMLHTTP " error is due to php-5.3.x, so either downgrade php to 5.2.13 from here, (you might need to install some pear packages again), or upgrade egroupware to 1.6.003 which they say they fixed that.
I'll upgrade egroupware package to 1.6.003 but you have to upgrade your existing installation manually.

Well it seems version 1.6.003 has some issues with fresh install and ldap (object class violation) it has reported since v1.6.002. They fixed php-5.3.x support though.
So the safest way to upgrade is to backup you existing installation, download 1.6.003 or daily snapsot and restore your header.inc.php.
That's the only way it worked.
So I'm waiting for 1.6.004 to upgrade egroupware package.
