when I enter webmin I get an error message perl module dbd::mysql not installed.

This is a fresh install of 1.4.8. I also get an error message about sqlgrey on startup of server. I will post that message a little later.

You can do various things
1. do a 'mysql_upgrade' and build dbd::mysql perl module.
2. upgrade to perl-5.10.0-i486-3sms.txz at
http://sms.it-ccs.com/isos/SMS.Native.CD/extra/1.4.x/perl-5.10.0-i486-3sms.txz
3. Upgrade perl package to 5.10.1 along with other perl depended packages.

I am re-installing server, so if error happens again then I will upgrade.

It will happened again since I upgrade mysql to 5.1.x branch and forgot to update the perl module, which is from 5.0.x branch.
This is a bug of SMS-1.4.8.
