2. Yes quite easily just mount it with ntfs-3g.
3. I use ext2 for /boot and ext4, ext3 or jfs for root (/).
You can use
100MB /boot ext2
1GB swap
15GB / ext4
~60GB /DATA ext4

What's the partition scheme of sda1?
Since you shared a folder on sda1 you must be extra careful.

Assuming that your data disks are independents and your disk scheme is similar to
1 HDD for system (Ubuntu)
2 HDD ext4 for data
1 HDD ntfs for data

It depends on the services you are using, if your 333GB are data shared through samba, afp, ftp the you can easily migrate, as easy as installing SMS and move your data on it.

I ever use a previous version of sms but the new version even better. The problem now is that, before the latest release of sms, I'm using ubuntu server 10.10 and I have a lot of data inside my 333GB ... |
